This Child Completes Me
The work observes women, wives, mothers, in confronting scenarios based upon real life murders.
As viewers, we find it hard to accept and understand that ordinary women, with non violent histories, can be driven to believe that there is no other solution to their problems than to kill and destroy the life of others, in order to gain what they believe is the only answer to their own needs and desire for perfection.
The women are overcome with pressure to live up to the expectations as a mother and a wife, they desire perfection in their parenting and partnering ways, they must keep face with society and satisfy their maternal instincts; “Pregnancy (and motherhood) has been observed to be a period of deep fulfillment and satisfaction...” BROWN, S.F. (2005). Along with the desire to care for and control another human being and the ability to be the one to take life back again.
